Individual Piano and music lessons for all ages and grades:
The individual lesson plans provide practical, effective activities for all grades to learn the basics and the novelties of music in each level, regardless of your age.
They are based on national and state standards as well as on Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Each lesson focuses on an individual classical music composer and selected pieces of music.
The Concept Areas of Rhythm, Melody, Expressive Qualities and Harmony, Form, Timbre/Tone Color are used (also Style, as a combination of several of these).
Skills developed are Playing Piano, Singing, Moving, Listening, Creating (including Reading and Writing Music) Analyzing/Relating music to other subject areas such as history and literature.
About the Kodály Philosophy
Theory and Solfege
1. Rhythm symbols and syllables are utilized.
2. Hand signals (Solfege) are used to show tonal relationships. It's a fun exercise!
3. The moveable "do" is practiced.
4. The musical material emphasized is the mother-tongue/folksong.
5. Concepts are taught according to the child's learning development.
6. Piano is the major instrument with many singing activities. All children can play, sing and be successful.
